樂團歷史

成立於1988年原始團名Scum，樂風為(輾核金屬)，原始團員為Paul "Themgoroth" Makitalo(主唱)、Olavi Mikkonen(吉他)、Anders Hansson(吉他)、Ted Lundstrom(貝斯)、Nico Kaukinen(鼓)所組成。

之後在Johan Hegg(主唱)加入樂團之後，樂團的樂風轉變為Melodic Death Metal(旋律死亡金屬)，在1991年末表演之後樂團正式改名為【Amon Amarth(維京戰神)】，Amon Amarth這個名稱是取自於知名暢銷魔幻小說"魔戒"Amon Amarth在小說內容中指的是一個特定地點The Mountain of Doom（毀滅之頂）做為團名，他們的創作歌詞中幾乎都是關於維京文化。

1993年  Amon Amarth錄製了一張專輯Thor Arise，錄製完成後Amon Amarth對專輯整體並不滿意，後來便沒有發行該張專輯。之後Amon Amarth也累積許多經驗開始錄製第二張專輯The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter，在這次錄音結果Amon Amarth對結果相當滿意不過這時候還沒有唱片公司跟他們簽約，所以就自己發行了這張專輯，這張專輯當時銷售成果相當不錯短短12小時就銷售了1000張。

1996年  Amon Amarth憑著之前自製專輯熱銷成果得到了Pulverized Records(唱片公司)的一份合約，發行了第一張正式的專輯《MCD(Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds)》，銷售了6000張。

1996年  Metal Blade Records(唱片公司)找上Amon Amarth希望可以跟他們簽約，Amon Amarth經過考慮後決定跟Metal Blade Records(唱片公司)簽約，之後Nico Kaukinen(鼓)退出樂團，新任鼓手為Martin Lopez(鼓)。

1997年  Amon Amarth與Metal Blade Records(唱片公司)簽約後原定97年推出新專輯《Once Sent From The Golden Hall》，但是專輯錄製過程中卻相當不順利，鼓手Martin Lopez(鼓)退出Amon Amarth跑去了Opeth(殘月魔都)，Amon Amarth緊急找來新任鼓手Fredrik Andersson(鼓)。

1998年  新專輯《Once Sent From The Golden Hall》經過百般波折後終於順利推出，得到國際市場的認同，開始了各地巡迴演唱會，並且錄製了7張音樂錄影帶(MV)，相當頻繁的出現在許多音樂雜誌上，Anders Hansson(吉他)離團，新任Johan Soderberg(吉他)接替。

1999年  推出專輯《The Avenger》Amon Amarth累積多年經驗，團員也穩定下來，Amon Amarth也逐漸找到更適合Amon Amarth的編曲根製作方式。

2003年  推出專輯《Versus The World》當然維京色彩依然不減，歌詞敘述的還是維京戰士的戰爭。 

2006年  推出專輯《With Oden on our side》

2008年  推出專輯《Twilight of the Thunder God》並且被挑選為『最佳金屬專輯』，北美巡迴演唱會開始。
